The DOCTORGOALS Podcast

Apr 15, 2019

Sometimes, it feels like all you have time for is your medical training as if your life completely revolves around your coursework and call schedule.

And often times, it does.

Schedules are determined by the rotation your own, upcoming exams, and that 'lovely' call schedule that interferes with your sleep.

(Wait, what even is sleep?)

It can be hard to carve out time for anything outside of medicine, which leads to the question:

Is it possible to be more than a doctor or is that all you have time for?

Dr. Emily Jacobs is an Obstetrics & Gynecology resident who is BUSY! When she's not in the OR or seeing consults, she's taking care of her 18 month old son.

  • How does she balance being a doctor and a mom?
  • How does she not get behind in her surgical training?
  • Shouldn't you wait until AFTER your training to start a family?

You shouldn't have to justify how you want to live your life, but in this field, we can sometimes feel judged . . .

This is a good one. Thanks for tuning in!
